Week 15 of 2015

"Week 15" was filled with lots of fun stuff!  We flew back from Midland that Monday after having a nice and relaxing Easter.  That Thursday William and I had a wonderful day off together.  Things got started with a bang, our little buddy went #2 in the potty for the first time!  It's a work in progress folks.  :)  Next up, William's first Soccer Shots class at school.  To say this kid likes soccer, is an understatement!  He loves, loves, loves soccer.  I'm not sure what it is he likes so much.....kicking the ball, scoring goals, Coach Chris or just getting to do something different for 30 minutes at school.  Whatever it is, it makes him happy.  AND, that makes mama happy!  After soccer we had a little date at Starbucks.  Juice for William, decaf coffee for me and of course a yummy scone.

The bottom row of pictures are from that weekend.  William got his first 3rd birthday present in the mail from Aunt Ash and Uncle Brandon.  He was just a little excited!  That Saturday night Gordon and I went to a dinner and movie (William had a super fun evening with his #1 favorite, Ms. Melissa).  I was so excited to finally see Insurgent.  Normally, I would have been on opening weekend....but that was the week of my cerclage placement.  Better late than never!  The movie was made better by this yummy icee.  :)  That Sunday I called Gordon while he was at the gym and asked him to pick up Wing Stop on his way home.  Just a little pre-dinner snack.  Too bad I can't hit the gym anymore.....with the foods I'm craving, I'm in trouble!

A Celebration Weekend

To say we had an eventful weekend is an understatement!  We were busy bees from Friday through Sunday.  Our weekend got off to a fabulous start a little sooner than usual.....we finally closed on our house at 2 pm on Friday.  I'll post more at the end of the month about our home buying/selling process.  For now I'll just say I'd much rather buy a home than sale.  It has been a bit of a headache but it's finally over.  Signing those papers took a lot of weight off our shoulders.  Now we just have to focus on packing up the house and getting the next ready to move into!  We bought our house on May 5, 2010 and sold it on October 4, 2013.  Just one day short of 41 months.

Gordon and I had a quick celebration drink at the Galleria Tasting Room!

Here's what William thought of selling the house.  Shocked and loving his new slinky.  :)
We did our normal Barnaby's breakfast and run to the grocery store before heading out to Katy.  My best friend, Alison, had her baby girl last week (more on that later too!) so we ran by their house to drop of a pasta dish.

On our way back home we stopped by Buffalo Wild Wings to grab lunch and watch a little Red Raider football!  William never watches TV.  We rarely have the TV on and when it is he's not interested at all....except for football!  He's mesmerized!

Last night we continued the celebrating and had date night.  Sweet Ms. Melissa watched William while we had dinner at Coppa

I had the chicken "under the brick" and Gordon had the spaghetti carbonara.  Their signature bellini was delicious and G didn't complain about his fancy whiskey drink!

Yesterday was also our two year "baby anniversary".  We found out we were expecting sweet William on October 5, 2011 (read more here and here).  The past two years have been filled with more happiness than I could have ever imagined.

Here's what we've been up to over the past 12 months:

October-  William celebrated his first Halloween as a frog and started eating cereal!
November-  Baby's first Thanksgiving in Texarkana.  We had our Christmas card photos taken during this weekend too.
December-  First Christmas in Midland (William started sitting up on his own too).
January- Headed back to West Texas for George Strait concert and William got his first fever at 9 months old.
February- Celebrated mommy's birthday at Tony's.
March- St. Patrick's Day and yucky hand, foot, mouth infection.  :(
April-  1st birthday at the zoo, Emily/Grant's wedding and Easter in Texarkana.
May-  Back to West Texas for Duck Dynasty, lots of swimming and San Antonio for Mom's Day.
June-  Put house on market and signed contract on new home!
July- Lake Houston and Rosemary Beach.
August- Mommy had surgery.
September-  Canyon Lake, 2nd wedding anniversary and baby's first time to Kentucky.

Such a fun weekend!  NOW we have to get busy packing....

Christmas Cards and a New Year

It's hard to believe that 2012 is gone.  Time has never flown by so quickly!  Thanksgiving and Christmas are the best part of the year.....well, honestly I love something about every part of the year but the holidays are filled with family time, Christmas lights, yummy food, cooler weather and Christmas cards....and nothing makes me happier!  Although I'm sad to see it go I am glad to have a calmer calendar ahead of us.  Having something scheduled every weekend makes the normal day to day life even more hectic!

William has been a busy bee!  He gets his creativity from his daddy. :)
As you can see in the picture above we have a little artist on our hands.  HAHA.  I don't think I'll ever be able to throw this stuff away!  When I opened the card from William I cried.  Yep, I sure did (motherhood has turned me into an even bigger softy than I already was).  His teachers got us an ornament with a picture of him and this home made card.  It's the best gift I got all year.  Seriously.  That little boy couldn't make us any happier!  We're also so glad and grateful he's able to go to a school where they love him and take such good care of him while we are working.

Moving forward....here's a little recap of our New Years and getting Christmas cards in the mail....

I'll start with our first family Christmas card.  We had pictures taken while we were in Texarkana over Thanksgiving and really loved how they turned out!  I ordered the cards a couple of weeks before Christmas but encountered a little bit of drama trying to get them delivered to our house.  FexEx said they had been delivered to our house but we never received them.  :(  I called TinyPrints to let them know and was surprised when they said they would give me a refund.  Long story short FexEx discovered the cards had been delivered to the wrong house so I went by and got them (by then it was only a few days before Christmas)!  The cards went out a little late but I figured it was better than never.  When we got back in town from Midland I called TinyPrints to let them know we ended up finding the cards and to please recharge me.  The lady was a little surprised and ended up only charging me half of the original price.  The story gets better.....yesterday I got a handwritten letter in the mail from TinyPrints!
Here's what it said:
It was an absolute pleasure assisting you today.  Thank you so much for calling us after receiving your order and letting us know.  Your honesty is commendable and truly appreciated.  Thanks again for the reminder that there are still good, honest, upstanding people in the world.
I will forever order from TinyPrints!!  Not only were they willing to refund me for a mistake they didn't make but they sat down and took the time to hand write a note thanking me for calling.  Great company in my opinion!!!

Gordon and I got to have a night out together on New Years Eve.  It was our 5th year to go to dinner at Sonoma Wine Bar on NYE.  2009 we went with Whitney and Chris, 2010 we got engaged that night!, 2011 was our first married NYE, 2012 we went with my parents and I was preggo, and 2013 our 8 month old baby was at home!  After a yummy dinner and some delicious Cakebread we went to a new bar in our neighborhood.  I had some champagne and G had a beer, we ran into some old friends and at 10:00 we headed home to see our sweet baby boy....who was surprisingly still awake!!  I guess he knew it was a party night.  Don't worry, after snapping a few pictures on an iPhone, William and I were off to bed and asleep by 10:30.  haha

"Guys, what is on my head?"

Most days he drives me crazy but I couldn't love him any more!
We had a relaxing New Years day.  I slowed cooked some black eyed peas, we lounged around in our PJs and William made a new year's resolution to sleep through the night!  :)

YEAH for 2013!!!

Coldplay Concert

This past Monday Gordon and I went to the Coldplay concert!! I have always joked around and told Gordon I wanted him to take me to Paris to see Coldplay (they seem to play there often)....when I heard they were coming to Houston I was so excited. I was a little worried that William would be too young for us to be able to go so Gordon and I held off on getting tickets. Right after my birthday my mom surprised me with tickets to the concert AND offered to come into town to babysit William. Gordon and I had a great time at the concert. Coldplay was AMAZING...favorite concert ever! Nana and Papa enjoyed their time with William and mom and dad enjoyed a fun night out together.  If you have a chance to see Coldplay GO! I'm still hoping Gordon takes me to Paris to see them one day. :)

Fabulous seats!
Chris Martin was 20 feet away!
